Welcome!

Have you been feeling “stuck?” Are you having difficulty coping with stress in your life from relationships, parenting, employment or other life transitions?

Do you have concerns about your behavioral and emotional functioning?

If any of these situations resonate with you, please know that you are not alone.

Often, acknowledging  that there is a problem, or that something in your life needs improvement, can be a difficult first step.  However, considering you are here reading this profile, congratulations, as you’ve already taken an important first step.

Self-improvement is a journey and it is not uncommon to encounter obstacles  along the way, though it’s important to know that these challenging times can improve.  Together, we can work effectively to navigate these life challenges that you may be experiencing and to discover old patterns of relating that may be inhibiting you from feeling confident and being able to achieve your goals.  I believe in the power of therapy to help you heal, grow and become your best self.

Meet Dr. Golnaz Hansen

Dr. Golnaz Hansen is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience  who provides collaborative and compassionate therapeutic treatment and support to adults in Illinois and North Carolina, and is also licensed to provide teletherapy in several states (see below).

Her clinical experience spans includes working with individuals in a variety of clinical settings, such as private practice, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and community mental health centers.  She earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from University of Southern California (USC) and Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).

Non-Judgmental APPROACH

Dr. Hansen takes a strength-based, nonjudgmental approach to treatment.  She believes that every person should be treated as an individual with unique circumstances and needs.  Her therapeutic approach reflects this belief, and she incorporates various treatment modalities to fit the client rather than a one-size-fits-all model.  Dr. Hansen strives to create a warm therapeutic environment.

Dr. Hansen utilizes an integrative approach that includes evidence-based interventions tailored to your individual needs.  Some modalities I incorporate into my work are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices.

She is currently licensed to practice in Illinois, North Carolina, and is also a PSYCHPACT provider which allows her to practice teletherapy in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

FAQs

Yes, I am accepting new clients that live in the state of Illinois and North Carolina.  I’m also a PSYCPACT provider and licensed to provide teletherapy in the following states:  Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

If you would like to see if we are a good fit or have any questions, please reach out for a free 15 minute phone consultation. I will get back to you in less than 24 hours.  You can call or text me (773)266-7500 or email me ([email protected]) to set up a time.

Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.  Payments can be made with credit card.  Please feel free to contact me to discuss fees in more detail.

Yes, I am an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO.  For out of network providers, I’d be happy  to provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.  If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to reach out and I’d be happy to answer any questions.

If you are interested in using your insurance, I recommend calling your insurance company to better understand the specific benefits of your plan as each one is different.

Some helpful questions to ask your insurance provider:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?
  • Which company provides these benefits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, how much have I paid towards this already?
  • What percentage of the session cost will be paid once I have met my deductible?
  • Is there an out-of-pocket maximum? What is my responsibility for session costs once this has been met?

I have a 48 hour cancellation policy.  Please notify me at least 48 hours in advance if you need to cancel. Otherwise, there is a  $200 late cancel and no-show fee billed to the card on file.  Late cancels and no-shows are not billable to insurance. I will do my best to reschedule your appointment but cannot guarantee same-week appointments.

I offer remote, online therapy for both safety and convenience via a secure and confidential video platform.
